Opening planned: the est will open with c. 120 students in the higher classes. In the following years we will gradually expand to take in 450 students.

School operations are in preparation.

Planned start of construction: The entire ensemble is restored as a historical monument and expanded during the construction period with required additional new buildings.

A Europe-wide tender for the planning and project management of the renovation of the existing buildings is prepared and published.

The state of Brandenburg approves € 20 m for renovation of the existing buildings as historical monuments. A further € 10 m is promised from private donors.

The national and federal state level governments approve € 4.5 m for the renovation of the roofs, from the historical monuments fund for nationally significant cultural monuments.

In an ideas workshop, experts set out the key elements of a framework school concept.

The German Federal Parliament Budget Committee approves funding of € 30 m for the renovation of the existing buildings as historical monuments.

€ 450,000 in national funding from the special fund XI for the protection of historical monuments is approved for the first stage of the renovation of the roofs.

The Robert Bosch Foundation and the Karl Schlecht Foundation give their support to a workshop series on “Schools for the Day after Tomorrow.”

Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media Prof. Monika Grütters awards the school ensemble the status of a “nationally significant cultural monument.”

Chancellor Angela Merkel notes that the project is extremely important and worthy of support for the process of the unification of Europe and for Europe in general.
