est – supported by many strong hands
There is war in Europe. Our continent is drifting apart politically, a new nationalism is dictating agendas. We want to build a foundation to counter these developments – an innovative campus for European exchange amongst young people – the est, which will particularly take into account eastern European perspectives. A place of education for young adults that sees Europe not as a theoretical construct but as a home worth protecting. A united and peaceful Europe needs a committed civil society working across borders.
The est will be a future-looking place of learning in the heart of the European continent where young people can grow up together with the European idea, learning what constitutes the spirit of Europe – its history, culture, and diversity. These young people will shape the future of Europe and spread the European idea.
We have already gone a large part of the way. The first master plan is completed, and significant press and media have reported on our aims, while our educational concept is developing well. Public funders at the national level and from the state of Brandenburg have expressed their trust in and promised more than € 50 m in funding. Private donors have given € 15 m for the renovation of the existing buildings. But these funds are not yet enough.
Further buildings are needed for the school and boarding school with 450 students, including a research workshop, a new assembly hall, a new canteen, and a sports’ hall. We want a state-of-the-art boarding school where young people from all over Europe can come together. This is why we are looking for further donors for whom European understanding, education, and the preservation of historical monuments are important.
Your commitment is worth it – we have the opportunity to achieve something meaningful here. For Europe. For education. For Brandenburg. For the future of our children. Help us to realise the est education campus.
The total costs for the renovation and the new buildings, which must be covered by private donations and public funding, amount to more than € 100 m, taking the increasing costs of construction into account.
We are already witnessing a lot of support from politics, the town of Templin and its people, and from regional, state and national government. Now we are asking you.
We need your support on our path to the est!
